Nail Disease

There are a few diseases and infections that can cause a change in the nail’s appearance.  The most common of which are fungal infections.  This can cause the nail to become thick, discolored, and even separate from the nail bed.  Prescription medications  are usually needed to clear a fungal infection.  It can take about 5.5 months for a fingernail to grow and 12-18 months for a toenail.  Psoriasis, bacteria, and chronic nail biting can also cause other severe nail problems.
