Shingles

Another term for shingles is Herpes Zoster.  It is a viral skin infection that can affect any part of the body.  Although it can affect any age group, incidence increases with age.  Shingles can be very painful even before any visible rash develops.  Small blister like bumps are common and tend to rupture and crust over a period of 2-3 weeks.  It is important to seek care for shingles, because it can be incredibly painful as well as contagious.
