Pharos Eximer Psoriasis Laser
The Pharos laser is a great additional treatment option for many patients with psoriasis or vitiligo. It is a 308nm-Phototherapy Laser with an advanced form of UVB phototherapy which delivers targeted, high-dose, monochromatic therapeutic light directly to affected tissue without exposing healthy skin. This may promote faster clearing and longer remission than conventional UVB therapy. The Pharos laser is a painless beam of light that is applied through a hand piece directly to the skin. Because everyone’s condition is different, the number of treatments and the time it will take to achieve clearance will vary from person to person. However, most patients initially require treatments twice each week. It may take 12-15 treatments to improve psoriasis and 15-30 treatments to improve vitiligo. Occasionally, maintenance therapy will be needed, but often times the treatments with the Pharos laser can results in total clearing of the disease process.
Many insurance plans cover this treatment with a prior authorization request and evidence that previous treatments have been used in the past. Come to see our nurse practitioners, Abby James or Kalyn Crosby, if you would like more information on treatment with the Pharos laser.
